Event Description : EXHIBITION "Essence of Leaves" Solo show of paintings by Gautam Partho Roy.

Thirty six years ago, a young graduate emerged from the Rabindra Bharti College in Kolkata, holding a First Class degree in Fine Arts.
He has a rare talent, as he can use charcoal, oils, water colours, poster paint, pencils and crayons with equal mastery.
With a few strokes of charcoal, his portraits capture the essence of his subject,.With his pen he depicts the intricate details of carving on a monument.
He puts vibrant life into a poster paint scene of village dances.
In this collection, he sees leaves as the source of life for plants and women as the source of life for humanity. This is the connection this series seeks to portray.
The leaves surround, support and guard the women in their various moods.
He sets them in forests, in pools, dressed in leaves and attended by butterflies and birds. This signifies the close connection that women have with nature – they are a part of all its mysteries.
The style of these paintings is reminiscent of his Lotus series, created in 2008. 
Gautam Partho Roy has held over fifty exhibitions all over India and received innumerable commissions from individuals.
