Let’s celebrate Autism
Amrit is a young artist on the autism spectrum. Her autism provides her with a unique perspective to the world around her. People, objects, spaces, all find a new meaning through her lens. Her perspective of the everyday, routine affairs makes her work not only unique but also interesting. That is perhaps why most of her works have very dominant facial expressions. Her latest works are a testimony to the fact ‘The face is the mirror of the mind, and eyes without speaking confess the secrets of the hearts’.
In the true essence of the meaning of her name ‘Nectar of Life’, Amrit spreads the nectar of her selfless love, her innocence and her gentility and touches the very core of all those who come in contact with her. Her art is her release from this chaotic world.
Amrit is blessed to have found support in the Pathways School Noida extended family. It is under the loving and nurturing guidance of Mr. Anil Goswami and the members of the art department that Amrit has found her true calling. Mr. Goswami has been the guiding pillar and the strength behind her work. The unparalleled support of the management under the leadership of Dr. Shalini Advani and the members of the staff has helped Amrit to blossom both as an individual and an artist.
Amrit has had a few accomplishments in the past. She has had 2 solo shows and has also participated in four group shows at the India Habitat Center from the year 2011 till date. Her art has found place in many private collections. It has also featured in The Art of Autism blog here : goo.gl/VQulpH
Her work has found a place with the ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment besides many other eminent personalities. Some of her creative works have also been translated into a booklet by a student from Singapore International School, Singapore who has researched on Autism in young adults. She has also been featured by some newspapers, the links to the articles can be found here. She has also been featured by Doordarshan and the NewsX channel. These accomplishments, however small have reaffirmed our trust in the goodness of people in this world.
Amrit does not confine her art within the boundaries of technique. Her lines are her strength and she prefers to paint in flat tones. Her paintings are vibrant as is her soul. Art knows no boundaries and no limitations. Art is a celebration of life. So Step into her World and look at it with her eyes. You will see the difference.
