Around 200 students from delhi collage art will be show case.
Concept Note
Art is known to be the most intense mode of individualism that the world has known. Art is not a handicraft, it is the transmission of feeling the artist has experienced. Today art is going through a transformation with Indian artists opting for modern and contemporary art, somewhere the essence of old classical art form is missing where the focus was on Indian tradition and culture.
Art Carnival is entering in the 14th Year to get back to the roots and preserve our traditions and culture with old classical unique art forms which is also called the interactive art which can be understood by every layman. A total of 500 to 600 paintings being exhibited by the 200 students are what a normal person, an art lover or not an art lover will understand. As Mahatma Gandhi had once said, “A nation’s culture resides in the hearts and in the souls of its peoples”. Art Carnival following the same theory is an initiative by the students of Delhi Collage of Art to bring back the old form of art which has somewhere lost its sheen. A lot of old classic touch will be there in these paintings with use of water colors, oil paintings, charcoal, acrylic, different type of surfaces and installations.
According to Ashwani Prithviraj, “The creation of art is not the fulfillments of a need but the creation of a need. Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.” Delhi Collage of Art, one of India’s premier Art School will be inaugurating its 14thArt Carnival, an Annual Painting and Sculpture Exhibition with its awe inspiring paintings covering most of the three sections at t AIFACS Art Gallery from 20th May to 27th May 2016. On display will be paintings by over 200 artists, who are students of first, second, third and final year of Delhi Collage of Art. The paintings are an interesting mix of themes that are representative of the myriads backgrounds that the artists hail from.
From the wives of the ambassadors of foreign diplomats, to the youth seeking a career in art as also corporate honchos for whom art is a form of selfexpression; the students of this art school are truly an eclectic bunch of people.
Founder and Director of Delhi Collage of Art; Ashwani Kumar Prithviwasi quotes, "it gives me unbridled pleasure to see how far we have come over a decade and a half. From relatively modest beginnings to being recognized as one of India's major art events; the Delhi Collage of Arts; Annual Arts Exhibition has truly become a much anticipated annual arts event.
An interesting facet of this exhibition is the fact that it caters in equal measure to the art connoisseur, to the casual visitor, and the serious investor. About Ashwani Kumar Prithviwasi
Ashwini Kumar Prithviwasi, with his many hats on, is a world famous painter and equally prolific in photography, is currently working as a Principle and Managing Director of Delhi Collage of Art (Pvt. Institute,Delhi). Ashwini Kumar Prithviwasi has participated in many solo and group exhibitions in India and abroad. While painters laboriously first sketch and then fill in the colours, he has an ability to be able to start painting fore with and that too using any kind of medium and on any kind of surface. Being an M.A. in Painting from Jiwaji University, Gwaliar, Ashwini Kumar Prithviwasi has won many awards including Yuva Mahotsava Award, Sahitya Kala Parishad, Bansi Parimu Award, AIFACS, New Delhi,Secularism Award, College Of Art, Delhi and the more recent AIFACS award in 2009. He has also held many workshops all over India for IIT, Grand Mall, Gurgaon, Installation for CBSC at India Islamic Centre, St. Stephan college, Delhi, etc.
