Pristine Water (Eng/2013/16mins)
Dirs. Niyati Sengar & Amaresh Kumar Singh
For many people in India, River Yamuna is Jeevan Dayini (life-giver). However, the Yamuna that runs through present day Delhi is an open sewer and is, clinically, dead. The film narrates the story of Yamuna through the people whose lives thrive around it- a coin diver, or a national level swimmer who learnt his first lessons in the river or the boatmen who depend on her for their livelihood- all share a special bond with it. An entire cultural life revolves around the river. People still take ritualistic baths in the river. The film presents a glimpse of the life around the Yamuna and tries to find out the importance and significance of the river in the lives of people living on its banks.
Followed by screening of :
A Climate Of Change (Eng/2013/38mins)
Dir.Jenny Sharman
The film reveals how Africa's people can adapt to climate change and significantly contribute to mitigating the impacts of global warming through innovative, simple systems of farming and sustainable development. These systems are saving lives, increasing prosperity and protecting the continent's biodiversity. This highly effective approach is providing farmers in Africa with a winning scenario, that, if sufficiently supported, could help prevent some of the suffering and environmental destruction that is so frequently reported from this fragile continent.
