In ancient Greek mythology, Dionysus, the God of grape harvest and wine making, gave nourishment and strength to his patrons. In Indian mythology, a Hindu who sincerely worships is rewarded with rice by Annapurna, the Goddess of food. Anna meaning food and purna, complete.
