Event Description : BOOK LAUNCH "What will leapfrog India in the 21st century ?" edited by Suredra Kumar
Book release by the Railway Minister HE Mr Suresh Prabhu
Can India- world’s second most populous country, seventh largest in terms of area, home to a bewildering diversity of people with huge economic disparities- leapfrog in the 21st century? India is in a unique position to catapult its strength and surpass other emerging economies. Currently under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who inspires confidence in investors, a slew of initiatives- Make in India, Digital India, Swachh Bharat, Smart Cities, Bullet Trains, Start-up India-have been announced. A favorable external environment- with continuing low prices of crude oil and slowdown in other emerging economies that could divert investment to India- is complementing the positives at the domestic front. However, social, economic and political problems persist that impede India’s growth trajectory.
India’s leading thought leaders and opinion makers come together in What Will Leapfrog India to ponder on this question and offer food for thought about India’s future. The Book Discussion will shed light on what India needs to do to realize its full potential.
