The vibrant, generous writing of René Depestre is inseparable from his action. While he was still a student in Haiti, he founded the openly anti-government and anti-colonialist newspaper La Ruche. His entire life is a commitment to literature and politics, based on the concern to “flood every bank”. His literary work expresses a positive force full of spirit and sensuality.
