Event Description : EPIC WORKSHOP "Introduction to Hindustani 
Classical Music"  by vocalist Pt.Satyasheel Deshpande

The workshop aims to convey the scope for creativity and individual expression in Hindustani Music for any age group, be they beginners, mature musicians or rasikas. It will introduce participants to various styles of improvisation (gharanas) and equip them to understand and appreciate music for themselves.

About Pandit Satyasheel Deshpande : A uniquely creative Hindustani Classical vocalist , widely known for his contribution to the world of music as an imaginative performer, a brilliant composer, an acclaimed author and an exceptionally insightful musicologist . 
A disciple of the legend Kumar Gandharva, Satyasheelji was exposed to unique beauty of a wide range of musical approaches - to various, bandishes, genres, artists and gharanas. 
Satyasheelji has also lovingly studied lighter forms of music , especially thumri and ghazal. His love for language and his command both Hindi and Marathi have made him an acclaimed
author and a sought-after speaker on various subjects related to music . 

He is a  recipient of numerous awards including Homi Bhabha Fellowship in 1996 , the  Kumar Gandharva Fellowship in 1999, Sursingar Samsad's Tansen award, the Raza award for creativity in 2006 , the Vimla Devi Foundation for social work, for his work with Samvad Foundation  and most recently, the Vatsalabhai Bhimsen Joshi award, 2013
