Event Description : Theatre Garage Project presents "Fired By Hamlet" Comedy English/Hindi Play.

An Old World Culture presentation.
A company of travelling actors find themselves in crises- they're out of shows and have no money left. They decide to try their luck in Elsinore. Prince Hamlet of Denmark, they hear, is looking for just such a company. What does Elsinore hold for this motley crew? As the play unfolds, we find them struggling for food and fame. They share with us their aspirations, ambitions, hopes and fears- Will Prince Hamlet hire them to play permanently at court? Will all their secret prayers be answered? Or are there other, more interesting surprises in store for them? Fired By Hamlet is rooted in Commedia'dell Arte and Shakespeare. The parts are all the stock characters of that genre, with the play having been built through a series of Commedia and physical theatre improvisations.

About Theatre Garage Project : Theatre Garage Project is the brainchild of NSD & LAMDA graduate Ashwath Bhatt. It was conceived in 2007. Its essence lies in breaking patterns, observing life, understanding self & human processes coupled with intensive voice/body and performance training rooted in Red nose clowning. At TGP, Red nose clowning is seen as a tool for de-stressing all sectors of society and reintroducing laughter in their lives. Over the years TGP has seen a fusion of cultures – apart from India (Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Siliguri, Lucknow, Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam, and Kashmir) people have flocked from various places in the world like Germany, England, Canada, Argentina, USA, South Africa, to learn and share skills and techniques. As a conscious decision, in the beginning TGP based itself in Ramgarh, Nanital away from the distractions of city life. The TGP house or the Empty Space as it’s called is embedded in the midst of Mother Nature with basic facilities which we are trying to improve with time. The philosophy guiding behind the work is ‘Finding something in nothing ‘. Theatre Garage Project aims to contribute to Indian Theatre by establishing ‘Red Nose Clowning’ as a liberating tool of expression for society and creating spaces to explore, experiment and synthesize Red Nose Clowning with all art streams. Theatre Garage has participated and performed in various festivals and venues around India. Some of the acclaimed plays produced by TGP are Infinite Stupidity, Clown Town, Dickheads and The Zero Story.  Theatre Garage Project has been associated as a collaborator and partner with various reputed institutions and organisations like MMB Goethe Institut, National School of Drama, British Council, Clowns Without Borders- USA, LAMDA, London, Red noses- Vienna, etc. At present TGP is in the process to construct a working place called the Humour Factory Studio and preparing for its first international play- ‘Fired by Hamlet’.
