About Artists :
Yoko Tawada
Yoko Tawada was born in Tokyo and moved to Germany in her early 20s. She writes in both Japanese and German, and has published novels, poems and essays in both languages. She has received numerous awards including the Adelbert von Chamisso Prize, the Tanizaki Prize and the Goethe Medal. She is the author of the short story collections, Where Europe Begins and Facing the Bridge, and the novel, The Naked Eye.
Alpana Mishra
Alpana Mishra is an Associate Professor at the Hindi Department of Delhi University. She is the author of several novels, short stories and critical essays. Her short stories have been translated into Punjabi, Bangla, Malayalam, English, Japanese and Russian, amongst other languages, and feature as part of the syllabus at universities in Kerala and Uttar Pradesh. Mishra was awarded the 2014 Premchand Katha Smriti Samman and the 2008 Shakti Samman.
Yumiko ISHII
Yumiko Ishii is a Japanese kathak dance disciple, currently under the guidance of Padma Vibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj and Guru Saswati Sen. Her initial training started under the guidance of Ms. Masako Sato in Tokyo, then of Guru Malti Shyam in Delhi and Urja Desai Thakore in London. She holds a master’s degree in South Asian Area Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.
