Event Description : VSK Baithak with Dr. Nagraj Rao Havaldar.
Bangalore based Dr. Nagraj Rao Havaldar is yet another mellifluous vocalist from that unique region of India - North Karnataka with its epicentre at Dharwad, an extraordinary land which has through decades and yet continues to yield a recurring crop of outstanding Hindustani Vocalists. Groomed by Pandit Madhav Gudi - the prime Shishya of Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, Nagraj ji has had the great fortune of also drawing from the Gayaki of a galaxy of other eminent Gurus. And what has emerged is a captivating Vocalist whose music is deeply influenced by Pt. Bhimsen Joshi's Gayaki and finds instant resonance. I have no doubt that Rasiks will be totally enchanted, as I was when I first heard him at our home earlier last year.
Dr. Havaldar will be accompanied by his three sons- Omkarnath, who has already emerged as an outstanding young Vocalist, Kedarnath who is an accomplished Tabla player and Sameer on the Harmonium.
