Event Description : Tripat K Kalra (Founder Director – Gallerie Nvya) invites you to preview artist Somenath Maity‘s artwork collection entitled, , showcasing approximately 57 recent works in oil on canvas, presenting a richly varied palette, thriving at the interface between abstraction and representation.

Says Tripat K Kalra (Founder Director – Gallerie Nvya), “Somenath‘s story is the story of creative passion, the story of dreams that refuse to die despite the circumstances, compulsions and surroundings that threaten their existence. It is a story of a journey that took a young boy from a tiny room , to the world's most renowned galleries. Today, Somenath is considered to be one of the finest artists of contemporary Bengal. Known in particular for his beautiful cityscapes, he relates and responds to the light of the city in its myriad hues and tones. His structures are never city specific, but purely imaginative, ethereal, dreamlike. Almost surreal at times, they keep changing in form and  colour, almost flowing with the light that encapsulates them, varying with moods and emotions, softness and sharpness – moonlight on pebbles, shadows on walls, silhouettes against sunrises.”
