Event Description : Epic Lecture Series. The Epic Channel presents "A Century Of Indian Dance 1910-2010: Revival & Resurgence" An illustrated lecture by Prof. Ashish Mohan Khokar, Chairman, Dance History Society and Editor, publisher of Attendance, India's only yearbook on dance. 
Eminent Critic and dance historian with 43 published books will share his talk with rare material from the Mohan Khokar Dance Collection, India's largest dance archive. The last century has seen significant changes and developments in Indian Dance. From ignominy to becoming a popular mass art, this change was brought by many players: patrons, pioneers, performers. Each decade of the last century threw up names that furthered the art form. Names like Uday Shankar, Ram Gopal, Bala, Rukminidevi, Gopinath, Indrani, Yamini Krishnamurthy, gurus of various forms, folk artistes, film stars and modern dancers. With rare historical archival material culled from India's largest dance archives the Mohan Khokar Dance Collection, his son and successor Prof.Ashish Khokar recreates and retells the dance story of the century. The talk will end with a special focus on choreography today and new trends thanks to technology.
