Bioscope (Malayalam/2008/94mins) Dir.KM Madhusudan Bioscope, set in the early years of the twentieth century, is a story of history entering the paths of memories and dreams. The story of villagers, made mute by colonialism and slavery, entering the garden of a new vision through a new machine, bioscope. The protagonist Diwakaran’s new journey starts with his acquisition of a bioscope. He intends to entertain the village folks with his films, but ultimately falls prey to their superstitions and suspicions about the instrument. Winner of multiple awards including Special Jury Award for Director, Kerala State 2008; NETPAC Hury Award for Best Asian Film – Osian’s Cinefan New Delhi; Best Cinematography– SAIFF, New York 2008 amongst others.

Dance Like A Man (English/2003/101mins) Dir.Pamela Rooks Some two decades later, Jairaj and Ratna are now forced to confront their troubled past as Lata, their daughter, prepares for her arrangetram or debut as a dancer. Into this memory laden house, Lata brings her fiancé, Vishal, to meet her parents. Exposed to an environment alien to his own, Vishal in some ways acts as a catalyst to reveal the dark secrets of the family's relationships and its generational conflicts.

Kaliyachan (Malayalam/2012/99mins) Dir.Farook Abdul Rahiman The story speaks of devotion and defiance to an art form. The film is about a Kathakali actor, Kunhiraman and his relationship with his Guru, Asan. At a young age, he is trained to become a fine actor and a famous Kathakali artiste, under the tutelage of Asan. However, at the peak of his career, his ego and skepticism, his depraved lifestyle and his unreasonable defiant attitude and his love for women and wine, removes him from where he belongs- the world of Kathakali and the performing stage. The Master dies of grief caused by his favourite disciple’s downfall, but by that time Kunjiraman has lost his grip over his life rejected by all whom he had loved and all who had loved him. Winner of Best Background Score and Rajat Kamal medal at the 60th National Film Award, 2012

Ek Hota Vidushak (Marathi/1992/145mins) Dir.Jabbar Patel Aburao, a Songadya (clown) in the world of Tamasha is known for his satirical humour. His humour comes from the humiliation he suffered as an illegitimate child of a tamasha artiste and exposed to the cruel world of deceit, poverty and power play. Bewitched by the beautiful actress Menaka, Aburao leaves the tamasha world, using the opportunity to enter the world of cinema. Soon he finds himself a willing accomplice in the throes of glamour and power, until he is confronted by his mentor and is reminded of his roots and the genesis of his rise to stardom. Winner of multiple awards including Best Marathi Film & Best Choreography Award at the National Awards, 1993; Best Marathi Film, Best script at the Maharashtra State Award, 1992

Tasher Desh (Bengali/2012/114mins) Dir.Q The story of a prince who escapes his destiny, the prison of his mind. He lands on a fascist island and incites women to revolt. A psychedelic fantasy about destiny and humanity, social control and Utopian revolution.
