Event Description : The India Harmony Foundation presents Farhad Colabavala in and as "Eight Kings" a historical drama, set during the times of Sheikh Nizamuddin Aula, focusing on the eight Sultans of the Delhi Sultanate, who ruled just before the advent of Mohammed Bin Tughlaq. It is a story of how IBN Batuta, a traveller from Morrocco, came to the city of Delhi which witnessed Saints and Emperors co exist peacefully through centuries, to become an intrinsic part of its historical and cultural landscape. The Kalander speaks about the fickleness of fate and transient nature of political power, and ultimately how only love has triumphed over the centuries.
The play is supported by Amir Khusro's poetry in praise of his beloved master Nizamuddin Aulia.
The act of each Sultan will be supported by visuals of heritage structures in Delhi of that particular period.
Directed by Vikramjeet Sinha, the author is Dhritabrata Bhattacharjya Tato and music composer Ketan Sharma.
