Event Description : Bhisham Sahni As Playwright "Hanoosh" Hindi Play As part of 'Life-Word-Image: A Hundred Years Of Bhisham Sahni' series.
Based on a folk legend of Czechoslovakia, the playwright shows on the one hand the overwhelming desire and disinterest of an artist towards his passion & on the other, portrays the struggle between society, politics & religion in a very subtle manner. Hanoosh, a poor craftsman dreams of making a clock, the like of which has never been made before. After a trying period of 17 years, he is finally able to make his dream come true. But his reward for this invention is turned into a lifelong curse. Bhisham Sahni, writer of works like Tamas, Kabira Khada Bazar Mein & Madhavi, through Hanoosh hits hard on the alliance between power, politics & religion which is as relevant today as it was ever before.
