Event Description : Pandit Siyaram Tiwari Memorial Sangeet Trust presents the Dhrupad Festival.

Dhrupad Sabha Dhammar recital by Sumeet Anand Pandey 
Accompanist: Shubh Maharaj (Tabla) 

Followed by Dhrupad recital by Ustad Wasifuddin Dagar 
Accompanist: Rishi Shankar Upadhyay (Pakhawaj) 

Background : This biannual Dhrupad Festival started in August 2014 by the trust organized the first Dhrupad Sabha in Aug 2014 in New Delhi to commemorate Pt. Siyaram Tiwari’s 18th death anniversary followed by the second Dhrupad Sabha in the month of March in Patna to commemorate Pandit ji’s 96th birth anniversary. Encouraged by the success of the two events, trust decided to make it a biannual Dhrupad festival taking place in Patna and N Delhi in March and August respectively. Dhrupad Sabha returns to New Delhi in August to commemorate Pandit ji’s 17th death anniversary by paying a musical tribute in Dhrupad style.  
On the occasion of Dhrupad Sabha, 2 awards are announced by Pandit Siyaram Tiwari Memorial Sangeet Trust, namely Varishtha and Yuva Kalakar Sanman. In this third edition, the artists being honoured are Ustad Wasifuddin Dagar, eminent Dhrupad Vocalist of Dagar Tradition and Rishi Shankar Upadhyay, talented young Pakhawaj player of Pt. Vasudev Upadhyay Pakhawaj Tradition of Gaya, Bihar.
