Event Description : Gallery Freedom presents "Aparajita The Indomitable Spirit of Woman" A group exhibition of paintings & sculptures to raise resources for Beti Bachao.
Long known to be a champion of social causes that are uppermost in peoples’ minds, the Voluntary Health Association of India (VHAI), in collaboration with Gallery Freedom has put its weight behind one of the most pressing causes of our time, the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign launched on 28th August.
An effort of this nature is one more step towards sensitizing the public on important social and health issues using the platform of our rich and diverse cultural heritage.
Triggered by enthusiasm to promote the cause of the girl child Gallery Freedom has selected the works of a group of master artists and promising youngsters to curate a signature exhibition of rare brilliance. Handpicked works of the masters, whose creations the art fraternity has always welcomed with open arms, have joined the cause and offered their much loved masterpieces to augment the gallery effort.
Such a unique showcasing of art, under a single roof has historic reverberations. As masters’ works are usually confined to retrospectives and one-man shows, this high end conglomerate of artistry open to the general public, where several master works are to be viewed under a single roof, goes a long way in demonstrating art trends across different eras as well as the growth and distinct periods of creativity in individual master artists’ career spans. The works also salute the creativity empowering Indian contemporary art as a whole, for a single glance through the works makes viewers gasp with the spread of artistic interpretations on view at this display. Being the masterpieces of the masters, they are vibrant with specimens of each artist’s signature style and keep viewers riveted to the works. The more one delves into these works the more are the possibilities of interpretation that open up for the viewers. Such painting displays offer every viewer the chance to hold a private tete-a-tete with the creator of the work and thus provide a rare fascination for every visitor to the exhibition.
For the artists too, it is a nostalgic memory recall as many of them have a cache of incidents, and a flurry of experimentation that their paintings embodied and which are refreshed when they see their works on the gallery walls, after a passage of time. Thus each work wears a patina of distinct memories for its creator while offering an unforgettable visual delight for the gallery visitor.
