Delhi at Eleven (82 min; 2013; dvd; English substitles)
Produced by David MacDougall who will introduce the screening
Screening will be followed by a discussion
The film presents the work of four young filmmakers of New Delhi who took part in a video workshop at the CIE Experimental Basic School, a government primary school in 2012. Each of the filmmakers was eleven years old. Original and thought-provoking, their films offer a unique and special perspective on Indian family and working life. The workshop was coordinated by David MacDougall as part of the Childhood and Modernity Project. The four films are:
My Lovely General Store (15 min)

Ravi explores the day-to-day workings of a small general store near where he lives
Why Not A Girl? (16 min)
By Anshu Singh
In this film Anshu documents the oppression that many girls experience in their family life and the favoritism that is shown to boys
My Funny Film (16 min)
By Aniket Kumar Kashyap
Aniket’s film is a high-spirited, kaleidoscopic view of his friends and family
Children at Home (29 min)
By Shikha Kumar Dalsus
The film gives an inside view of the daily rituals, work, study, and play of children in an extended family
