Event Description : Chairperson Neera Misra, Trustees, Advisors, Members Cordially invite you to "The Indus-Sarasvati (Harappan) Civilzation Vis-A-Vis The Rigveda" 3rd International Seminar.

Propositions pertaining to Rigveda being no older than 1200 BCE and its people being nomads, who invaded India from the north-west and destroyed the Harappan civilization have been orchestrated for almost a century. Recent linguistic studies of the Rigveda have shown that it is assignable to the 3rd-4th millennia BCE, if not earlier, duly supported by the evidence of field archaeology, hydrology and radiocarbon dating. Nullifying the misplaced belief that the Rigvedic people were nomads, a fresh study of Rigveda itself makes it clear that these people had regular settlements, sometimes even fortified, carried on trade by land and sea routes, and also had a governance, a regular hierarchy of rulers, including a Samrata (Emperor), rajas (kings), rajakas (king lings).
Intricate study of archaeological data clarifies the negation of invasion in any Harappan site, and the so called ‘massacre’ at Mohenjo-Daro has been mythicized. Further, anthropologists studying human remains have not stated migration of new people to India between 4,500-800 BCE, thus annulling the theory of an ‘Aryan invasion’.
Examination of an alternate theory by some scholars, viz., they ‘immigrated’ into India from the Bactria-Margiana archaeological complex (BMAC) of central Asia, has been found to be baseless stating a vital argument that no BMAC element has ever been found to the east of Indus, which was the habitat of the Vedic people.
A series of recent excavations in the ancient Sarasvati valley has established that the Indus-Sarasvati or Harappan Civilization is deeply rooted in this valley, going back in its formative stages to circa 5th millennium BCE, as shown by the carbon-14 dates for Bhirrana. This civilization spread westward up to the Indus on the west. Rigveda (x.75.5-6) shows that the Rigvedic people occupied the territory between the upper reaches of the Ganga–Yamuna on the east and the Indus on the west. Thus, a spatial chronological study of the Rigvedic data and of the Indus-Sarasvati civilization, shows that the Rigvedic people were indigenous and neither ‘invaders’ nor ‘immigrants’.
To create awareness, and disseminate knowledge, about the above mentioned textual researches and archaeological discoveries, both at International and national level, and to draw governments attention for incorporation in the text- books, we hold an International Seminar on the Subject. Thus we have invited a large number of distinguished scholars from India and abroad – the USA and Europe and our national scholars to create awareness through the ancient Indian Oral Tradition of knowledge dissemination.
