Event Description : Alliance Française de Delhi presents "Esharêh".

The originality of The Ensemble Esharêh is to have succeeded in bringing together artists from diverse cultural backgrounds. While combining Indian sounds, chants of the Arab World and the Persian percussions, Esharêh reprises the musical and linguistic heritage of oral tradition songs from Upper Brittany countryside. By referring subtly to a possible link between the Eastern and Western cultures, these musicians regain cultural heritage on behalf of a living oral tradition.

Musicians :

Simon Dégremont is Classical Guitar medalist and graduated from the C.F.M.I (University of Lille). He studied the Gallo song with Charles Quimbert. This encounter gave him the possibility to discover a Repertoire to which he attaches a limitless fascination. He draws a part of his creativity from these Traditional songs and does not hesitate to think outside the box while remaining faithful to the spirit of this tradition. Lover of experimental works, he regularly plays improvised music, Renaissance and Baroque musics, collaborates with the world of theater, film music, contemporary dance and other artists : Lucile, Wanna Rebel Sound, Daniel Fatous (Theatre Director), François Boucq (Cartoonist). He also created shows for young audiences around children’s literature ( A history of stone, The blue chair, Moun).

Matthias Labbé is a percussionist. His travels allowed him to learn the techniques of various instruments : Indian music, Arabic music and Caribbean music. He has particularly studied the Tabla with Pandit Anindo Chatterjee in Calcutta since 1998, the Mridangam with V. Sivakumar in Pondicherry since 2008, the Iranian drum (Tombak) at the CNR of Rueil-Malmaison and the Arab drum (Darbuka) especially at the Conservatoire of Oran. He is one of the best tabla players of his generation. His musical level enables him to accompany Indian Artists during their concerts in France.

Julien Lahaye is a percussionist. Trained in African Mandinka music by the greatest Masters of the genre, he had the privilege of accompanying great African percussionist Masters (Mamady Keïta, Koungbanan Condé, Bolokada Condé) in concert in France. He studied the fascinating playing of Iranian drums (Tombak, Dayreh, …) with Madjid Khaladj in Paris but also with Djamshid and Keyvan Chemirani. Specialist of rhythms, he considers himself as a colorist
