Event Description : "Kolor Tandav -1" a group exhibition of Paintings and Sculptures.

Curator’s Note (Radha Kumar) :

“The artist sees what others only catch a glimpse of” - Leonardo da Vinci.

Many of the works featured in this exhibition really show what the artists see in mundane day to day things and how they translate it  into works of art.  The focal point of this exhibition is to create a space which encompasses figurative and the abstract, the real and the imaginary. Welding together a fluid string of different reference points and artistic visions, the aim is to deliver an aesthetic display which is diverse, exciting and pleasing to the eyes. Thus the viewer should be able to enjoy the works from a variety of standpoints. Art is always the product of influences and inspirations an artist gets when he is viewing things around him.

The works of each of these artists are different with distinct impressions of each artist, yet in a way similar.

One would be amazed at the sheer possibilities this show offers; the varied and contrasting transparencies, the coolness,  the warmth, seeming densities and  most of all the use of incredible palette of colours,  be it in abstract or figurative work.

Abstraction is a nuanced and subtle term and its relationship to its equally layered figuration is as dizzying as anything art has to offer.  We all have the opinion that figurative representation and abstraction are different, if not mutually exclusive. Perceptions like these are merely the physical registration of certain formal properties of what is being seen. Each one of these artists observes things around them differently as per their perception and translates it to works of art – be it figurative or abstract. The works of these artists, be it in an abstract or figurative style, are placed in the space which is mutually flattering.
