Event Description : e’thaan design studio presents "Naga Roots" an exhibition of handcrafted lights and tableware.

The exhibition  and sale will feature specially designed and handcrafted lights and tableware inspired by the traditional motifs and colours of Nagaland along with some inspirational examples of traditional craft from Nagaland.

The product designs will be based on an exploration of selected traditional craft skills with a view to evoke the cultural ethos of the craft in new and creative design. This show is a first of its kind attempt by e’thaan design studio  to do a singular culture specific show.

In this richly diverse country there are cultures like those of the tribal communities of Nagaland that contribute significantly to the Indian  identity. Nagaland  resonates with a rich art and craft tradition rooted in its cultural fabric.

This design exhibition Naga Roots by e’thaan pays homage to the cultural roots of the Nagas. It is inspired by the cultural motifs of the Naga tribes which have a symbolism rooted in ancient animistic traditions of courage, fertility and power. The hornbill, the Indian bison or mithun, tiger and human figures are motifs of great relevance in the Naga tradition. This showcase of lights and tableware is a design journey that takes the viewer from the vernacular to the inspired present.  The wood and bamboo natural aesthetic is echoed by various craft skills which give birth to these designs. The products unite diverse craft skills and materials in creative design.
