Event Description : "Let’s do Chai"an Art and Studio Pottery Exhibition.

Ceramicist Tanuja Jain and Artist Mamta Malhotra have captured the many moods and expressions of Chai with their individual and combined effort bringing affordable art, on and beyond the canvas to your homes. The Exhibition will witness studio Ceramics in porcelain and stoneware , Oil Painting painting on canvas, hand-painted ceramic and mixed media on wood.

Chai in Hebrew means ‘Alive’. This exhibition is a de ja vu collecting scenes reflecting situations where people get together to celebrate being Alive.
Both artists live a schizophrenic life managing the parallel universe that range from an adrenal burst of creativity to mundane existential sterility.

Tanuja has been exhibiting ceramic art for more than a decade. Her International experience and exposure have taught her various techniques of pottery under the aegis of famed international potters and led her to create a vast array of styles in Studio Pottery.  A designer by training has made it possible for her to mingle shapes and form to create artistic interpretations of functional tableware.  She believes in promulgating the idea of art as a part of everyday life.

Fascinated by the concepts of form and line in building design, Mamta has translated her educational background in architecture to develop a unique style of painting, capturing the vibrant life still existing and fast disappearing in Varanasi. She experiments with different materials and media to create unique art and furniture.  Simplicity, integration with nature, relevance to our cultural identity and heritage are the trademarks of her work.

The beauty lies in the synergies that both the artists have managed to achieve with their own medium of art by creating the same mood on canvas, clay and wood. The concept is inspired by mixing landscapes of Varanasi the oldest living city, into clay, the oldest medium used by mankind.
