Event Description : "Visible Spirits : Vol. 5" a solo art exhibition of a collage of works : paintings, photographs and fractal art by Manaf Edavanakad.

As the name denotes, it is the 5th of the kind, all 4 have been abroad.

Acquainted to the paint and brush since a child, Manaf’s paintings are mainly inspired by his impressions and reflections of his own life. These artworks chronicle the artist’s emotional journey, culminating in hope and a resolve to overcome. These works have served as the artist’s refuge…his sanctuary.

The paintings also portray the artist’s resent towards the present day world and uses his brush to express, feeble yet bold, a protest on the heinous events happening around - uncalled for yet inevitable.

Photography grew as a passion through his childhood, his father’s old box camera being a subject of admiration and curiosity to him as a little kid.Manaf, a self-taught photographer, has a prolific collection of frames to his credit.
His photographs mainly illustrate the beauty of nature and project it as an earnest way of the photographer’s desire of conserving/preserving the places he has visited - at least as images. A true admirer of nature and its tranquillity, the photographer is apprehensive that most of it would soon succumb to the callousness of man.
Photography and paintings went hand in hand with him until a decade ago came across a relatively new form of imagery – Fractal art. It was indeed the mathematics behind fractals got his attention in the beginning. The precision of images and the way a mathematical equation turns into visual images – in other words image of the unimaginable - became a striking new platform for him.

About the artist/ photographer :
Born in 1969 at Edavanakad - a scenic little town in Kerala, Manaf is a graduate in Communication Engineering and has a Diploma in Electronics Engineering. He has also done a ‘Higher Management Executive Excellence Program’ at American University of Sharjah.

Manaf’s talent in painting was recognized and nurtured by his art teacher at his school, and continues to be his best critic and appraiser - though he is a self taught photographer. Fractal art is relatively a recent addition to his artistic endeavors.

He had been working in the field of television media for the past twenty four years and has worked in various creative fields of television such as direction, sound engineering, scripting, lighting direction, video and audio post production etc. mainly during his decade long association with Prasar Bharati - Doordarshan
Presently, he is the Vice President of Broadcast Operations at Tensports, Film City, Noida
