Elsa makes a living from odd jobs and seeks for a real job in order to have custody of her son. 
Mathieu, his neighbor across the landing strings together job interviews with a consummate art of failure. They live in a precarious situation but both try hard to start again in a world which apparently not shaped for them: “seven times on the ground, standing eight times?”
