Event Description : Long Exposure: The Camera at Udaipur, 1857-1957 Foreword by Arvind Singh Mewar. Authors - Pramod Kumar KG & Mrinalini Venkateswaran with contributions from S. Girikumar & Lauren Power Painstakingly documented over several years, the photographic collections of the Pictorial Archives of the Maharanas of Mewar, Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation, Udaipur constitute one of the most significant collections of early photography in India today. Its importance lies in its range: the images are not only a record of the evolution of photographic technology as it was practised at Udaipur, but also reflect the changing tastes of patrons and practitioners, and the society in which they lived and worked. Curated and exhibited for the first time in 2009, this eponymous volume is the first comprehensive introduction to this rich collection.
