What defines you in this gender biased society? It is definitely not your chromosomes. Every mind has an individual outlook on life, based on their experiences, beliefs and environments and this question has been quite sublimely explained by the 11th and 12th standard school students of India. UK-based
Arts University Bournemouth is organizing an art exhibition in New Delhi, ‘The Gender Defined World’, wherein powerful expressions by various young artists from the country will be on display in the form of paintings, photographs and films. The exhibition is an upshot of the international art competition by the university titled "Who are you in a gender defined world” that witnessed participation of hundreds of school students from India who created artworks that looked at their identities in the context of gender attitudes in society. Out of the 100 best entries evaluated by a panel of judges comprising of eminent personalities from the creative field of India and abroad, the creative artworks of twenty-two shortlisted finalists will be showcased at the “The Gender Defined World” Exhibition.
The "Who are you in a gender defined world” art competition by the University witnessed top five winners from schools of India, of which the top two young artists will get their work featured on huge hoarding adverts across UK. The winners not only passed a long selection process through scrutinization by the panel of judges, their artworks were also published on the university’s Facebook page and website for a ‘public vote’ that engaged nearly 30,000 people. One cannot afford to miss the sight of these exploring young talents pour out their creativity through art. The remarkable pieces of art that would focus on transforming Indian culture for gender justice will simply leave you curious and inspired for good!
