Event Description : Opera At Habitat Series. Mozart’s 'Le Nozze Di Figaro (The Marriage Of Figaro)' Italian Film Screening.
25th March - Acts I and II . Sunit Tandon, with the help of live excerpts sung by some of Delhi’s best young opera singers, introduces a live video recording from the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden of a warm and vibrant production of Mozart’s revolutionary opera. The complicated plot involves a philandering Count Almaviva who is bored with his wife Rosina and is trying to seduce his servant Figaro’s fiancée Susanna on the eve of their wedding, despite having renounced the repugnant feudal right of spending the first night with the wives of all his servants. The action takes place in a single day and, by the evening, Figaro, Susanna and the Countess manage to foil the Count’s unseemly designs. The production features Erwin Schrott, Miah Persson, Gerald Finley and Dorothea Roeschmann and includes the great tenor Philip Langridge in his last operatic appearance. The Chorus and Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden are conducted by Antonio Pappano.
26th March - Acts III and IV Sunit Tandon, with the help of live excerpts sung by some of Delhi’s best young opera singers, presents a screening of the opera conducted by Antonio Pappano.
