Event Description : To celebrate 25 years of its existence, Salaam Baalak Trust presents 3 day Theatre and Puppet Festival.February 10, 2014 - The children, alumni and staff of SBT present ‘Sadachar ki Tabeez’ a satire on the red tapism and corruption prevalent in our society. The play has been written, directed, enacted and managed by the children and alumni.
February 11, 2014 -Anurupa Roy would also present a puppet show – ‘Ram and Ramayana’ as a part of the theatre festival.
February 12, 2014 - A puppet show ‘Simple Dreams’ presented by Ishara Puppet Trust, designed and directed by Padamshri Dadi Padumjee , renowned puppeteer, has kindly offered to host the show as a fund raiser.

About the Directors:
Anurupa Roy a well known puppeteer and trainer is a trustee of the Katkatha Puppet Arts Trust in 1997, a contemporary puppet theatre company, engaged in creating new artwork, performances and design aesthetics, using the puppet at its core and collaborating with other art forms and artistes. The Katkatha Puppets Art Trust uses puppets for community intervention and development, communication and activism. They train future professional puppeteers as well as field workers in community development and social communication and school teachers keen to replace ’chalk and talk’ routines with alternative teaching methods, and introducing puppet theatre and creative thinking to young people
Dadi Pudumjee is a leading puppeteer in India and the founder of The Ishara Puppet Theatre Trust. In the last two decades Ishara is committed to creating awareness, exposure and education towards the multifaceted traditions and techniques of puppetry in India and abroad; conducting workshops, new productions, collaborations with dancers and actors, exploring various techniques of puppetry both traditional and modern - also HIV awareness and drug use program’s with puppets in partnership with UNESCO Paris and EU. Dadi Pudumjee was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1992. He is the President of UNIMA www.unima.org and past member of the General Council of the Sangeet Natak Akademi.Founded in 1986
Organization : Salaam Baalak Trust (SBT) was set up in 1988, after the success of Mira Nair's film 'Salaam Bombay' which aims to provide care and protection services to over 5000 vulnerable girls and boys. From 3 staff and 25 children on a balcony of the Ground Reserve Police at the New Delhi Railway station 25 years ago, we have now grown to over 150 staff, providing support services in Delhi & the NCR region through our 22 centres - five shelter homes, and 17 day centres.
