Delhi is all set to drift into the magical world of written and spoken words through its very own literature festival for the second time. The 2nd DELHI LITERATURE FESTIVAL 2014 is being organized

M. Veerappa Moily, Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Environment & Forests and a well acclaimed writer himself will inaugurate the festival that will showcase a vibrant panel of discussions, readings, workshops, talks, presentations, book launches and much more.

Arvind Kejriwal, the Hon’bl Chief Minister of Delhi and the writer of ‘Swaraj: Power to the People’ will indulge in a conversation with the Group Editor of NDTV, Barkha Dutt on 9th February at 7:00 pm.

This year Delhi Literature Festival will pay a special tribute to Rajendra Yadav, one of the most well-known and reputed writers of Hindi Language. He was most known for pioneering the Nayi Kahani Movement in Hindi Literature. Namvar Singh, a close associate of Rajendra Yadav along with Ajit Kr. Chaudhary and Dr, Nirmala Jain will share their personal experiences with the veteran writer who no longer lives between us. With a tinge of international flavor, the festival will witness the presence of Brazilian Author Bernardo Carvalho throwing light on Brazilian Contemporary Literature.

Keeping with the tradition of promoting independent writers and publishers, DLF’14 will see a dramatic reading by Rehaan Engineer, of yet to be published novel, Mutilator written by Prajna Desai, an art critic and writer. The festival will also hear the tale of the successful literary entrepreneurs as they share their journey with the young aspirants. Other eminent speakers include Mr. Mushirul Hasan, Rakhshanda Jalil, Rosalyn D’Mello, Samit Basu, Abhimanyu Sisodia and many more.
In the frenzied life of today and an extreme dominance of digital media, DELHI LITERATURE FESTIVAL calls out to everyone to reflect and immerse into the world of fiction, non-fiction, poetry and even plays in the three days. The festival this year will appeal to a wide array of audience - the academicians and the casual readers, the book-geeks and the occasional browsers, the serious and the aspiring writers, established authors and the young writers.

Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts will turn into a unique space for words and ideas, with Mati Ghar lawns in front of the auditorium being transformed into a literary village with various talk shows, workshops, exhibitions and fun activities planned there.

Literature is just not inked paper between covers, but much more and beyond. Maintaining its erudite atmosphere, DELHI LITERATURE FESTIVAL will invite a wide gamut of speakers - authors, poets, literary thinkers and entrepreneurs from across the country. Dramatic readings, literary criticism, graphic novels, erotica, power of new media, playwriting and poetry, the festival promises to be an amalgamation of all.

  1. The start of Delhi Literature Festival is a very good initiation. In Jaipur we rejoice in the realm of literature for five days aloof from the husble-bustle of day-to-day life. Publicity about Delhi Literature Festival was little. I could know about this, this day on 08.02.2014, hence could not manage to visit the festival 2 days.
