Event Description : 'Minukku: The Reel Crossover' documentary film screening, talk & dance.
The film allows viewers into the life of one of Kathakali’s most acclaimed exponents. Told through the eyes of famed Malayalam actor Nedumudi Venu, the documentary portrays the late Kathakali maestro Kottakkal Shivaraman, who is credited with revolutionising the portrayal of female roles in Kathakali. He is considered by many as the undisputed ‘king’ of stree vesham. Rajan peppers his film with interviews and clips from Sivaraman’s legendary performances, including Sairandhri in Keechakavadham. At one level, this film is an interface between the kathakali actor on the one hand, and a film actor (Nedumudi Venu) and an artist (E  P.Unny) on the other. Nedumudi, an ardent admirer of Sivaraman, follows the latter's life and experiences in the film, while Unny's sketches captures the sculptural beauty of Sivaraman's face, gestures and expressions. This interface is also one between different art forms. Winner of the National Film Award, IDPA and Kerala State Film Award for Best Documentary Film.

Screening followed by panel discussion.
