Event Description : Punjabi Academy presents 'Nati Binodini' Punjabi Play.
Based on Bengali artist Binodini’s real life. Binodini started her career as a courtesan and played her first serious drama role in Calcutta’s National Theatre in 1874. During a career spanning twelve years she went onto enact over eighty roles, including those of Pramila, Sita, Draupadi, Radha, Ayesha, Motibibi, and Kapalkundala amongst others. One of the first South Asian actresses of theatre to write her own autobiography, her sudden retirement from the stage left certain questions unanswered.
