Event Description : Mala Roy presents "N.E.W.S- An Artist Statement" an exhibition of paintings by Sumita Chakravarti, Chanchal, Rama Suresh, Aditi Gemini, Kishore Roy, Uday Goswami, Johnson and Subrata Biswas
The exhibition focuses on Indian culture from East,West, North, South featuring the work of artists who work through various forms of expression.
Works exhibited beautifully portray our culture, customs, relationships and the way of thinking. The exhibition is a blend of traditional and approach towards our culture. The artists hope that their works will help to get the glimpses of various traditions of our country which will make the people to gain more knowledge and relate to it.
The works of Jhonson are about a religious form of dance performed in the Hindu temples of Tamil Nadu and Kerela.
Rama Suresh’s works are very much inspired by rumodern ral folklore of India.
Chanchal’s works are based on the life in Varanasi.
Aditi Gemini who hails from Ahmedabad loves to paint ‘Bells’ which is her style which reminds one of the temple tradition and plays a vital role in spreading positive energy.
Sumita Chakravarti’s works are abstract figuratives, sculpture rendered two-dimensionally
and inspired by the bond shared by human being.
Uday Goswami, a young artist from Jhansi who uses mixed media for his creations and his works are based on bee hives. Kishore Roy and Subrata Biswas are from Bengal and their works brilliantly show the Bengali culture through their art form.
