Time : 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

In the words of M. K. Gandhi- “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” However this angle has been highly ignored in our debates for human rights. We feel pained when a crime is committed against a fellow human but we have sadly become insensitive towards the grotesque culture of killing perpetuated by us towards animals. We at Sarva Dharma Sansad believe that unless we address the root causes of violence towards animals in our daily lives we will never be able to do away with violence, oppression, incidents of rapes and brutal murders in our society.
21st of September is celebrated globally as the international day for peace and there are thousands of programmes, seminars and functions world-wide addressing the symptomatic effects of violence and injustice. Every day we diabolically massacre 1 billion birds and animals to satisfy our taste buds, with such immense violence how can we think of remaining at peace with each other. Sarva Dharma Sansad would like to use this 21st of September to sensitize the world in general and Indians in particular towards this heinous crime of killing our fellow cousins who share the Mother Earth with us and without whom our existence would not be possible. We want the rights of animal and birds to be included in the human rights and we aim for a paradigm shift in our philosophy through a migration from our anthropocentric view point towards a philosophy of love, compassion and sharing for all the living beings of the planet.
On this occasion we invite you to kindly grace the occasion by your illuminating presence. The discussion will be attended by various academicians, scholars from various streams, social activists, politicians, writers, authors, students and all others interested providing a space for vibrant discussion and deliberation along with exchange of ideas. Please join us to make this an enlightening discussion.
