Event Description : Bharatanatyam recital by Lokesh Bharadwaj, disciple of Justin McCarthy.
The  central  piece  of  the  evening  is Syama  Sastry’s  masterpiece composition  a  swarajathi in ragam Bhairavi, beginning with the  lyrics  “Kamakshi Anudinamu maravakane”. 
Lokesh will be accompanied by Sudha Raghuraman on vocal, G. Raghuraman on the flute, M.V. Chadrasekhar on mridangam and Justin McCarthy on nattuvangam.

Lokesh Bharadwaj is one of the finest young male Bharatanayam  dancers in  India  today.  With  a commanding  stage  presence,  Lokesh  is  a  very  sensitive,  intelligent  and  a  virtuosi performer with superb grasp of technique as well as musicality. Lokesh started his training in Bharatanatyam in 1997 under Sh. Justin McCarthy, at the Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra, at New Delhi, and graduated the Post Graduate Diploma course with distinction, in 2006. He has trained as an actor with Barry John and  been a practitioner of yoga with Navtej  Johar  at Studio Abhyas for almost 10  years. Recipient of the Charles  Wallace  Scholarship,  2008,  Lokesh  has  trained  in  modern  dance at  the London Contemporary  Dance  School,  London,  UK.  Lokesh actively pursues a career in performance as a classical soloist and is a critically acclaimed contemporary choreographer. Lokesh has also been the principal dancer in most of Justin McCarthy’s choreographies since 2003, and has worked in several choreographic works of Navtej S. Johar.
