Event Description : VSK Baithak with Raja Miyan.
My belief that great deal of excellence lies undiscovered in the labyrinths of the musical world was reinforced by the recital of Raja Miyan at our residence in Jan ’13. Raja Miyan -Ghulam Husnain Khan being his formal name, came and sang and won our hearts. It was a journey of unending delights. What made it even more compelling was his unpretentious and rooted approach to music.  His orthodox interpretation of Agra Gharana gayaki without recourse to any artifices or gimmicks added hugely to “old world “flavour that continually exuded from his music.

Mumbai based Raja Miyan comes from a family of traditional and eminent musicians of Agra Gharana but his principal claim to fame is the music that he sings.

VSK Baithaks are more about experiencing the joy of Indian Classical music. They are as much a  celebration of this invaluable heritage and a tribute to those who have helped or are helping sustain this heritage.
