Event Description : Utsav-Ranjana's Dance Academy presents Tejasa-Women From The Ramayan in four classical dance styles. Ranjana Gauhar (Odissi), Uma Dogra (Kathak), Gopika Varma (Mohiniyattam), Deepika Reddy (Kuchipudi).  

Four women of the Ramayana – Sita, Kaikeyi, Surpanakha and Mandodari – each narrates her story, from her individual and deeply personal point of view. Each of their stories reflects the composite nature, conflicts and compulsions of a woman as well as her inherent strength
and claim to dignity and respect. The content is drawn from the main texts of the Ramayana and enriched by the innumerable local variations of the great epic. Mother Earth is the mother of Sita. But so is she the mother to all. She becomes the chief narrator and weaves the
struggles of these four women in the epic. The dance-drama dwells on their struggles, even as these characters transport from age to age, into the present and to the future.
