Event Description : The IGNCA Film Circle has started two Film screenings a month on the second and fourth Fridays. This friday we will present the Premier of ‘M.T. Vasudevan Nair: A Momentous Life in Creativity’ in Delhi.
The Visual Arts department of IGNCA has recently completed a documentary on the Malayalam writer of iconic stature, Shri M. T. Vasudevan Nair as part of the “Great Masters" series. The “Great Masters" series focuses on the preeminent figures in the cultural domain of contemporary India. Envisaged as informed and comprehensive works on personalities who have made significant contributions to the cultural formation of contemporary India, the series has featured such illustrious figures in contemporary Indian art and culture as Bhisham Sahni, Ustad Fahimuddin Dagar, T. Brinda and B. C. Sanyal, among others. The objective of the documentation is to encapsulate in a historical perspective their life and thought. The film unravels through Nair's own words the complexities encountered in the creative process and the formative influences that shaped his creative moorings.
Background : The Media Centre at the IGNCA was set up as a support unit for the various divisions of the organization. On the occasion of the silver jubilee of the IGNCA, the Media Centre came up with a catalogue of films which have emerged from research projects of the divisions. The Media Centre has entered into an agreement with DD-Bharati under the aegis of which it has contributed over 200 hours of programming.
