Vitamin D deficiency is rising alarmingly in the Indian population especially among women and children. This vitamin is essential for Calcium absorption, mineralization of bones and has an important role in immunity and cell growth. Vitamin D deficiency is closely related to various physical disorders including cardio-vascular diseases, cancers, diabetes and psychiatric disorders. Vitamin D deficiency is easily preventable by disseminating information on the need of exposure to sunlight.
