Shri Zahid Khan-(Rudra Veena)
Ustad F.Wasifuddin Dagar-(Vocal Dhrupad)

Zahid Khan, son of Miya Ustad Shamshuddin Faridi Desai, is the only current artist who has learned the art of Bin according to the Indore Binkar family tradition characterized by the unique art of Gauhar bani style in Khayal and Dhrupad. The style has been variously described as plaintive and sorrowful, exploring slow, medium fast tempi, at times heavy with an elephantine gait, and specializing in exposition of the Shantras [sentiment of peace and tranquility]. The Indore family claims its origin to the great Binkar-Ustad Miya Bande Ali Khan. The birth of Gaiki ang sitar came from the Indore family and it was the dedication and the masterful skills of Miyan Bande Ali Khan who brought it to the world. He has been graced by the most powerful Sufi saint Khawaja Garib Nawaz Moinuddin Chisti who had told him that he will win the hearts
of mankind with his art of the Veena.
Zahid Khan developed interest in learning the art of playing the Bin since his childhood The art of Bin is deeply connected to spiritual knowledge as it was the instrument of Lord Shiva and to master it needs to be spiritually awakened. In order to achieve this inner knowledge Zahid Khan has been the follower of Qari Sibte Rasool Qadri a well known Sufi saint. Under strong and powerful guidance from his father Ustad Shamshuddin Faridi and through his hard work and complete devotion to learning the art of playing Bin, Zahid Khan became an illustrious musician at very tender age of 16.He has performed for prestigious institutions like ICCR and festivals like Saptak in Ahmedabad and Gwalior Youth Festival.

PADMA SHRI, USTAD F. WASIFUDDIN DAGAR
Awardee of the Padma Shri in 2010, he is the President of the Dhrupad Society of Delhi and Jaipur organising Dhrupad Samarohs and Guru-Shishya-Parampara Festivals. He has contributed to dhrupad appreciation through his lively lec-dems targeting the youth and his convivial engagement of audience during his concerts. He also has CDs with world reputed labels (like UNESCO, RAGARECORDS, SENSE, NAVRAS, MUSIC TODAY, JECKLIN...) He loves to share his philosophical views on life and music through talks and workshops, apart from his regular teaching according to guru-Shishya-Parampara.
His recitals are uniquely innovating and imaginative, full of new improvisations and moments of great vigour alternating with utmost tenderness in the application of notes, sustaining them in a “suspense” of pause and silence that may induce a deep meditative mood in the listener. Such is the tonal range of his voice that he can cover the three registers with utmost ease.

His rendering is simultaneously reminiscent of his mentors the Dagar brothers and yet very much his own perception and impression of music that he conveys to his audience with generosity.
