Event Description : 'Serene Harmony' an exhibition of paintings by Anuradha Thakur.
Noted artist Anuradha Thakur’s painting exhibition in New Delhi titled “Serene Harmony” springs from an artist’s meditation on people, on individuals in silent harmony with the place and the culture that they belong to and the moments spent within the experiences of tribal tradition, life and culture. The collection includes paintings of women and men from the tribal areas of Rajasthan in India.
Anuradha Thakur’s signature style is the use of black that acts as the harmonizing force harnessing the riot of bright earthen colors that are an expression of the colors of Rajasthan. The thin lines add detail and lend depth to the emotions captured on canvass.
The artist has captured the beauty of the serenity within individuals and among groups, the quiet conversations with friends and family, the absorbed interest and observation of strangers and the sincere engagement with artistic expression in almost every aspect of their life. The negativity of emotions of sadness, pain and anger taken into the embrace of the rhythm of togetherness, of friends, family and community is transformed into the exuberance of happiness that throbs within each one.
Anuradha Thakur is a graduate in Fine Arts and a state topper in the Diploma for Art Teachers. Her fascination for the paintings of tribal women by Amrita Shergill lured Anuradha to study the tribal culture in-depth. The flowing lines in the figures she draws show the influence of the paintings in the Ajanta caves. She has presented a paper titled ‘Students’ qualitative development and behavioral changes through art as a medium’, which has been recognized and honored by the State Government. She has also contributed a number of cover designs and illustrations for different publications including Oxford University Press, UK, Foundations like Hesperian Foundation California, etc. Twelve paintings from Song of Nature series have been selected for CRY calendar 2012 & greetings cards. She has published articles to promote understanding and appreciation of forms of art along with a critic’s perspective in news papers. She has attended various international and national camps for artists.
Anuradha has been awarded the All India Lokmanya Tilak Award at Pune. She has contributed a number of cover design and illustrations for different publications including Oxford University Press, UK, Foundations like Hesperian Foundation California, etc. Twelve paintings by Anuradha from Song of Nature series have been selected for CRY calendar 2012 & greetings cards.
