MAKINGS OF MARKSMAN
Transmutations: Well, this courageours artist’s are adventures in looking. By destiny deprived of one window to the world, he is doubly reinvigorated in his optical apparatus. But then it is not that his either outer eye alone has been made sharper; no it is the power of concentration; of sheer observation and of the meaningful recreation of the face and features of the world he happens to experience. Creation, imaginative creation, is the ability to refresh the ordinary or the familiar humdrum, into the meaningful and perhaps the memorable. In the select of his compositions, and there are many, these works are unerringly pointed and precise; in other words here is a truly lived experience. This then is the transmutation of the perishable stuff of life onto a raised platform upon which the viewer’s eyes will return over and over, and happily. I laud the young painter’s spirit. An object lesson for us all.
