Event Description : Japan Foundation and Sri Aurobindo Centre for Arts & Communication, brings to you the most enticing -Kurosawa Retrospective- Experiencing the Genius of Akira Kurosawa.
A total of 25 outstanding films of the legendary Japanese director - Akira Kurosawa, will be screened with English subtitles. The screening is being spread to two venues - Sri Aurobindo Centre for Arts & Communication, Adchini, New Delhi and The Japan Foundation, New Delhi. Entry is free on first-come-first-seated basis.
Profile of Akira Kurosawa : Born on 23rd March 1910in Shinagawa, Tokyo. Kurosawa studied art before entering into film. He served seven years as an assistant to director Kajiro Yamamoto. Within a few years, Kurosawa had achieved sufficient stature. He began his own directorial career with Judo Saga (1943). Following the end of World War II, Kurosawa’s career gathered speed with a series of films that cut across all genres, from crime thrillers to period dramas. Kurosawa won number of awards for his films. In fact, a number of his films served as “inspirations” for successful Hollywood tales. The master storyteller died on 6th, September1998 at the age of 88.
