Event Description : The Centre for Indian Classical Dances presents XIth Jivan Pani Memorial Festival.
In the past years, the Centre has brought unique programmes where the likes of Pt Birju Maharaj danced to Shri Jivan Pani’s poems, Lavani from Maharashtra, Jugalbandis of rare art forms like the three different schools of Chhau, from Jharkhand, Bengal and Odisha and many others.
Another outstanding feature of this festival is honouring an eminent person from performing and visual arts and literature with the Jivan Ratana Samman award as acknowledgment to their contribution to their individual field. This year Shri Banamali Maharana will receive this honour.
The concept of this year’s Jivan Pani Memorial Festival is to showcase masters of the
particular art from whose knowledge and experience successive generations can benefit and grow to appreciate and take a liking for our classical dances and other dance traditions.
