Event Description : The Centre for Indian Classical Dances is a pioneering Cultural Institution established in 1977 in Delhi by India’s cultural diva, Dr Sonal Mansingh, Padma Vibhushan, who is the Founder-President. She is not only a trend-setter in the country’s cultural milieu but also an inspiration to artists and the youth. Her contribution to the richness and popularity of Indian culture and arts is immense both at home and to nearly 100 countries across the globe.
The Centre based at Gulmohar Institutional Area at Hauz Khas, New Delhi apart from focus on teaching and training in Indian classical dances has also emphasized on giving equal importance to imparting values enshrined in Indian traditions. The other complimentary disciplines taught here are include Yoga, Sanskrit and Music. The Centre, which has showcased both young and established artistes in its regularly-held festivals is also among the first to organize Seminars to discuss topics relevant to the Society in modern times.
Over the last 35 years, the Centre has produced many outstanding solo Bharatanatyam and Odissi dancers because of its holistic approach to the teaching of dance with the objective that it benefits every student for the rest of their lives.
The disciples of Dr Sonal Mansingh, who is the spirit behind the Centre and its activities, have gathered to pay their respects and tribute to their Guru by presenting a specially choreographed dance- recital titled –Nrityanjali.
