Event Description : 'Spirit of Colors' Painting exhibition by Rose Devina (Rosemarie Görke).
I do not search. I find.
To search ,
that means , starting from old stocks,
trying to give new meaning
to what we already know
To find is different .
Finding means the unfamiliar, a first.
Finding, in motion.
This will be an amazing adventure.
The sacred experience...
Pablo Picasso
These sentiments characterize the life and work of Rose Devina ( R G. ? )
The painter R.G. grew up in a small farming community in the Black Forest in Southern Germany.
She belonged to a kind of farming “joint family”, where her talents were easily recognized in her early years. She realized that her need to paint was carried by a desire to experience the unknown.
Following her dreams, the young girl went to India in 1977, overland . She made a home in the Kullu Valley, in the high Himalayas. The unexpected encounter with the pictures of the Russian genius Nicholas Roerich ( 1874-1947) who spent the last years of his life at Naggar village , confirmed her interest in art and decided her to study painting, professionally.
In Germany she met her teacher, the Australian artist Paul Pollock. During intense studies, she explored the spiritual qualities of the realm of colors .This experience became the significant element in her oeuvre :
The vibrations and the force of expression of colors are the core theme of her artistic work.
Rose Devina ( R.G.) off and on lived in India for many years since , mostly in the Himalayas .Here she found inspiration as well as peace of mind.
She works in different techniques, grounds her canvasses and implements watercolors, tempera, natural colors , pastels or even experiments with mixed techniques. Lately, she adds sheets of precious and semi-precious metals, to great effect. She uses figural as well as abstract elements of depiction. Most important , as mentioned above, is the significance of her colors.
Her work by now has been recognized in Europe as well as in India, she attends international exhibitions.
The artist hopes to project intellectual encouragement and the pure joy of creating beauty.
Lately R.G. has guided art lovers and spiritual seekers at retreats and workshops, based on the Indian theories concerning the body chakras.
She has developed a sophisticated scheme of mental exercises, based on the healing powers of the relevant colors.
Nowadays, Rose Devina (RG) lives with her husband and children as well as her extended family in her Black Forest village in Germany.
Her husband has founded an art gallery primarily dealing with contemporary Indian artists.
She herself will never give up on her annual travels in India, because she is committed to reaching out for inspiration , as only India can provide it – rich in beauty and vitality, unrivalled in people, landscapes and spiritual cultures.
