Event Description : 'Aitraaf-e-Ghalib' Urdu Play.
Ghalib was a gifted letter-writer. His letters portray the spirit of his age, in all its political, social and cultural facets. Light-hearted, simple, direct, intimate and conversational, some of his letters are personal introspections and reflect painful memories and anguished moments of his life. The play
focuses on Ghalib the husband and Ghalib the lover as shown through his letters. His life in these roles had its own ups and downs, successes and failures. His emotional pain, physical stress, financial strain and old age emerge in these letters which make for delightful reading. Based on these epistles, the play focuses on the ‘lesser known’ aspects of Ghalib the man.
