About S2S Artivities – S2S Artivities is an upcoming art venture committed to promote Indian art. The organization intends to bring art lovers, buyers and connoisseurs an eclectic mix of masters and young artists both national and international.
The Concept: ‘AVIDYA – The true spirit of searching self’:
The exhibition showcases works of twelve young Indian artists from distinct parts of the country and two artists from Taiwan and UK.
To explore, cognize, knowing is pivotal to any existence.
However, the process of knowing is not all that simplistic. To know or not, what to know what not, how to know, all this is life consuming and yet abstract, subjective, like a mirage. And yet man‘s eternal search to know has never perished. It has attained distinct hues over
the years because the search is not an outward but an inward experience. It is this very spirit of searching new alleys of self discovery that is explicitly visible in the show “Avidya” going to be inaugurated by S2SArtivities.
The week long exhibition showcases dynamic works of 12 young Indian artists from different parts of the country.
The artists are Debasis Barui, Deepak Rajbhar, GirishKulkarni, M.S.Baoni, Narasimha M Kumbar, NidhiAgarwal, NilanjanaNandy, PrasantaKalita, SajalKaity, Sumantra Mukherjee, TishaMandal and Vinita Dasgupta.
It also includes works of two distinguished artists Glenn Fitzpatrick from UK & I Hui Kuo from Taiwan.
This beautiful blending of diverse regional, national and international traits and understanding make this show a visual delight. Though the show incorporates paintings of distinct genres & style, it together forms a composite whole. This diversity yet a continuum, visible throughout the show, enhance its intensity.
About the Artists : Debasis Barui- Born , lives and works in Kolkata he has graduated from Indian College of Art and Draftsman ship from Rabindra Bharati University. Participated in several group shows held at Emami Chisel, Kolkata. Also a recipient of Nokia Merit Certificate.
Deepak Rajbhar- Born on 14th April, 1980 and currently works in Delhi. He has a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts from Kala Bhavan, Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan, W.Bengal. Also has participated in a number of group shows. Awarded the merit award by Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata.
Esther I-Hui Kuo- Born in 1968 and lives in Taipei, Taiwan, has Masters Degree in Fine art from Kent Institute of Art & Design, UK. She has to her credit translating and publishing’ The Artist's Bible: Essential Reference for Artists in All Mediums in Chinese’, 2010. She is at present a lecturer in Catholic Fu-Jen University, Ming-Churn University, Jing-Wn University, Taiwan. Has got many group shows to her credit.
Glenn Fitzpatrick- born in 1972 works in UK, he has done Masters Degree in Fine Arts in 2001 from Kent Institute of Art and Design, Canterbury, UK. He is the author of the book ‘Arts and Mines’, published by Aerocomm, 2010 and has got many solo and group shows to his credit.
Girish B. Kulkarni-Born on 19th May 1979 and lives in Gulbarga, has Masters Degree in Painting from M.M.K College of Visual Art, Gulbarga, 2003. He was awarded Lokmanya Tilak-Pune, 2005-2007. Has participated in many group shows and art camps, recent group show were in Visual Art Gallery, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
Narasimha M Kumbar- Born on 3rd Jan 1983 lives and works in Yanagundi District, Gulbarga. He has done Bachelors Degree in MMK College of Visual Art, 2004. Participated in many group shows, workshops and art camps, was awarded Ministry of Culture Scholarship in New Delhi, 2007.
Nidhi Agarwal- Born in 1972 in Faridabad, now lives in Delhi, she has done Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts from College of Arts, 1993. Her recent group show ‘Luminous Hues’ was held at Lalit Kala Academy. She has participated in many group shows, was awarded Junior Fellowship by Ministry of Culture, 2011 to 2013.
Nilanjana Nandy-Born on 22nd Nov. 1979 lives in Gurgaon, Haryana, have Masters Degree in Painting from M.S. University. She has participated in many group shows. ‘Existential Hues’ at Kerala Lalit Kala Academy was her solo show has been awarded a Scholarship in Advance Painting at Ponte –Aven School of Art, France, 2002.
M.S. Baoni- Born in M.P. in 1975 lives in Delhi, has Masters Degree in Fine Arts from College of Arts, New Delhi in 2002. He has participated in many group shows, art camps and workshops.
Prasanta Kalita -Born on 1st May 1975 lives in New Delhi, has Master of Fine Arts (Painting) Degree from Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University of Baroda, 2002. He recently participated in ‘Exploring the Visual’ at India Habitat Centre, M.E.C. Art Gallery, New Delhi, 2012. Has got many solo and group shows to his creditalso a recipient of ‘National Award’ of Lalit Kala Akademi, 2011.
Tisha Mandal – Born on 10th Sept 1982, lives and works in New Delhi and has Masters Degree in Fine Arts from Kala Bhavan, Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan, W.Bengal. Has number of group shows and also a solo show to her credit.
Sajal Kaity - Born on 30th Nov 1978, lives and works in W.Bengal and has Masters Degree in Painting from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, 2005, has attended many art camps and workshops and participated in many group shows.
Sumantra Mukherjee - Born on 25th Aug, 1980, lives and works in Kolkata have Bachelors Degree in Visual Arts from Govt College of Arts and Crafts, University of Calcutta, Kolkata, 2005. Has got many group shows to his credit.
Vinita Dasgupta – Born on 30th April 1983, lives and works in New Delhi and has Masters Degree in Fine Arts, 2008. She was also awarded with National Scholarship in Painting by Ministry of Culture, for 2yrs from 2009-2011, New Delhi. Her recent solo show was ‘Bollywood Reverie: Rustic reveries of Bollywood’– at Gallery Art Konsult, New Delhi, 2011. Has number of group shows and also a solo show to her credit.
