Mustang in Western Nepal is a landscape sacred to both Buddhists and Hindus. Long part of a trade and pilgrimage route between Tibet and South Asia, it was for many years cloistered from visitors following the Chinese occupation of Tibet. Today there is an explosion of road construction across its river valleys, and the speaker, who visited in 2011, seeks through his camera to capture this magic land before the scene changes irrevocably.
Chair : Shri Ravi Bhoothalingam, Institute of Chinese Studies
